About Me

Hello, my name is Reku, a freelance illustrator based in the UK.I have been seriously practicing art for the past eight years but have dabbled in the craft all my life.I am fully self-taught, aside from the odd short course here and there.I mostly use digital tools such as Krita; however, I also use traditional media such as pencils and oil paints when I get the chance. (which is very rare)I specialize in Character art, either designing characters or painting scenes that tell a story. Most of my art is focused on the Furry fandom due to my affinity for non-human characters and interest in doing NSFW art.
However, I am not exclusively a Furry artist and am capable of any sort of illustration.
I hope you find my art inspiring, good to look at or generally appealing, if you like what you see it would be much appreciated if you could follow me on socials as it helps get my name out there :)

New Prices as of 01/01/26

Hello and welcome to my commission guide, this document serves as an in-depth demonstration to my process and pricing of all of my work. A condensed Table to prices for each section can be found separately at the top of this page.My commissions are basically different parts of the full process of creating a full illustration, even if you buy a full illustration I will first be drawing a greyscale (black and white) version and moving through each stage till completion. For that reason my prices are basically the time it takes for me to reach each stage of the process based on the minimum wage in the UK.All prices shown are a rough guide, I the artist am able to quote different prices for pieces that don’t fall into the following categories.
Commercial work I.e work that is intended to make money follows a different set of rules, details can be found in my TOS.
The main difference is the framing of the image, as more of the character that is showing the more complex and thus more time consuming it is to draw. I personally (and many others) split my prices into the following sections:Portrait/Focus
This is an image solely focusing on a single part of the body, usually the head of a character as a portrait, but can be of anything including objects.
Half body/ multiple objects
This involves any image where a large portion of the body is visible, multiple objects are visible or a small simple environment.
Full Body/ environment
These are images where the full body or bodies are in view or a large complex environment. (full body applies even if a hand or foot or wing is obscured)
Content of the image is usually quite open but I have some pretty clear lines as to what I am willing to paint, a full guide to content can be found here.

Sketch

All £20A refined sketch that is generally more presentable, these are generally still rough but convey the idea well and often their roughness is their own charm.
These take the least amount of time to do and thus are my cheapest option.
The subject matter can be anything and is mostly down to my own interpretation of the prompt. All sketches start at £20 per sketch. A single sketch is defined as a single object or scene, an image with multiple sketches (often called a sketch page) will increase the price my £10 per item.

Speed Paints

• Portrait/Focus
◦ £30
• Half body/ multiple objects
◦ £40
• Full Body / environment
◦ £60
Speedpaints are defined as a single image that I spend roughly 1 day on (8 straight hours) these are in full color and I have full creative control of the final product after the initial prompt.
They are usually a bit rough around the edges but are a great way to acquire cheaper work.
An alternative means to getting a speed paint is also to look at my patreon where I provide speedpaints to patreons as a reward :)
When you commission a speedpaint I will ask for a Prompt and any reference needed, once you have described what you want I will then go away and paint the full image in one sitting without asking for feedback (I may send some basic sketches at my discretion) Any major changes afterwards incur a fee quoted depending on the complexity of the change.

Illustrations

Illustrations are my best work, I put the most amount of effort into these pieces and provide as much control to the commissioner as I can, with regular updates and multiple choices every step of the way.
Illustrations can take anywhere from a few days to a month to complete depending on the complexity.
I Split my illustrations into three stages, being the Greyscale, the colour and the Rendering stage. I can provide commissions that end at each stage for those that don’t need the fine details or are on a tighter budget. Typically an illustration in full colour with 2 characters and a background will set you back £280.
For extremely large and complex images I will quote a price after we discuss the finer details, Things like opening your image to YCH sales can help drive the price down for these comms for example.

Greyscale

• Portrait/Focus
◦ £60
• Half body/ multiple objects
◦ £80
• Full Body / environment
◦ £110
Grey scale paintings are, as the name suggests, monochrome paintings (often in grey) After the initial sketches have been approved I will create a detailed painting rendering out all of the diffuse lighting of the scene. The extremely fine details such as fine fur and individual scales wont be rendered at this stage.

Color Pass

• Portrait/Focus
◦ £80
• Half body/ multiple objects
◦ £110
• Full Body/ environment
◦ £130
The colour pass as the name suggests is adding colour to the image, this is more involved then simply coloring it in however as I need to consider the atmospherics and bounce lighting of the scene, this stage can sometimes take more time then the greyscale painting in and of itself.
Once the colours are in place and have been approved, I then will quickly go over and tidy anything that requires attention.

Rendered

• Portrait/Focus
◦ £110
• Half body/ multiple objects
◦ £130
• Full Body/ environment
◦ £160
Once the color is in the longest and most tedious work begins, Rendering involves adding as much detail as I have the skill to do, painting fine furs, individual scales and more to make the image the best I can possibly produce.

Extras

This applies to all commission types

Reference Sheets

Reference sheets are as the name suggests an image to illustrate a character or object so other artists can better draw your character, or just generally so you can provide clear visuals to others. The exact use case of the reference should be considered however, if you simply want to have an image that shows of the basic idea of the character it might be better to simply get a basic illustration of them. If however you want to have a reference sheet to help future commissions from myself or any other artist a turn around can be invaluable.
At its base a reference sheet will include a turn around of the character, the characters name and any details as well as a swatch of their local colors (otherwise known as the flat colors)
I also provide isometric turn arounds for people that are wanting to get 3d models created, more details bellow.
There are two levels of quality for reference sheets that being:
Sketch: A basic refined drawing of the character in colour.
Rendered: A fully painted with every detail to the best of my abilities.
Reference sheets are some of the most complex and time consuming things I do, there is a lot of back and forth between the client and myself and I go to every effort to make sure that the image is as close to your vision as possible, especially as what I draw will be the reference future art will be using.
Artistic Turn around
An artistic turnaround includes a front and rear of the character, both dynamically posed in a way to both show off their important features and their personality. These reference sheets are what you are likely familiar with and are best for sharing with others and other 2d artists.
Isometric Turn around
An isometric turn around is a reference sheet with a front rear and side view drawn without perspective and in an A-pose (or a T-pose if the 3d artist wishes). Each view is as perfect and in proportion as I can humanly manage.
It might be a surprise to you as much as a surprise it was to me to find that an isometric turnaround is harder and more time consuming, but given the level of precision required it is in fact the case.
These turn arounds are best if not required for 3d artists to make a 3d model and is often the first step in that long road.
